AVIATRIX

This free artistic editorial shoot was created in 2014 as an exploration of the tension between classic couture and contemporary edge. Shooting location was at the Orangerie Palace and gardens in Kassel. The makeup was inspired by John Galliano’s runway show, where he combined the delicate aesthetics of a Geisha with the sculpted finger waves of the 1930s. I wanted to break the formality of the couture gowns and give them something raw and unexpected, something that felt both elegant and slightly subversive. Working with fashion pieces by AVIATRIX, the result became a visual dialogue between refinement and rebellion, where beauty is allowed to overstep its own boundaries without losing its sophistication. The light in this series played a crucial role, wrapping our beautiful models Oona and Anastasia in soft highlights and deep shadows that emphasize the sculptural quality of the garments and the makeup. Our creative makeup artists Lizz Lo and Joanna Martinez perfectly captured the vision, translating it into a look that balanced theatricality and grace. Looking back, I still love this free project, as it captured that fragile balance where haute couture becomes more than fashion and turns into a form of artistic expression.
